I set up on the rim long after dark and waited for the core of the Milky Way to arc over the mouth of the canyon to get my shot - a shot five years in the making. Life, the weather and the moon all finally cooperating. Far below, the river was still holding a little light, green and quiet, while a planet sat low on the far horizon. It is a long way from anywhere out here, which is exactly why the sky still looks like this.
