PLATE 11The BonusChapter I · The Night Sky
A deep, character filled canyon and a dark night make for a good combination when shooting the stars. The obvious star of this shot is a slowly fading Milky Way. An added bonus that only showed up after I had edited the eight shots that comprise this picture was the star burst in the upper right. On a large version of the picture it adds quite a unique touch to the star filled sky. And it offers plenty of fodder for an overly active imagination. I keep telling myself I'm too old to be standing at a canyon's edge at two in the morning, and then I go and do it again. With shots like this, it's easy to understand why.
