I'd seen this band from a mile away. Late afternoon, sun at my back, I headed their way hoping for a shot. Instead when they saw me they came straight at me, curious I suppose, of the intruder who had the audacity to enter their world. The low sun setting every coat aglow, they came on at a slow run, the gray pinto never quite committed to the group. He stayed off to their right the whole time. At 75 yards, curiosity satisfied, they turned and fled to the north leaving a breathless and grinning photographer in their wake.
