I made it to this rim while the far cliffs were still deciding whether to catch fire. Then the low sun finally splashed across the sandstone on the left. Down on the floor that thin switchback road runs for miles without a soul on it, which is about how I like my mornings. The old juniper had claimed the best seat on the ledge long before I showed up, so I set up right next to it and let the light come, enjoying his company - and the spectacular view.
