The wetlands: home to some of the most diverse wildlife and insect life on earth. For this old photographer though, I generally find myself focusing on the birds.
For me fishing is a passion; photography is a vice. The two come together on and near the water so it only makes sense to have a fishing rod in one hand and a camera in the other. When one is not being successful the other generally comes through to carry the day.
Landscapes with magnificent color generally hold my eye; the winged beauties found in the wetlands hold my heart. The imagination soars, dips, and dives in unison with those residents who take to the air when my incursions into their space cause them to find more uninterrupted habitat. A stationary subject can be interesting; one in flight can be exhilarating, poetry in motion, the breath of life in an otherwise mundane shot.
With so much of my time spent on or near water and wetlands it is easy to understand the inclusion of these pictures into this collection.
